How to get rid of E-drawings while keeping SW Explorer?

I've made several attempts at this. After installing SW 2009 SP3, it seems to demand that E-Drawings be installed with Explorer while you are using the installation manager. I want to have SW Explorer, but I don't want E-drawings.

Also, E-Drawings hijacked the DWG files, even though I told it not to when I installed the update. Then, when I re-associate the DWG files to Acad, the icons stay as E-drawings!

I've tried uninstalling E-drawings alone, but Explorer gets uninstalled in the process... even though I thought I had installation manager correctly set to only uninstall E-drawings! It seems the two are permanently linked.

OK, I can live with E-drawings on my computer, as long as it leaves everything else alone. Can I at least get rid of the E-drawings icon on my Acad drawings?
