I have a weldment part made up of 5” x 2” x .120” rectangle tubes being subjected to a 20 psf load. The frame is 168” long by 42” wide as shown in the attached picture. What is the best way to apply this load in FEA?
Do I apply a 980 lbf force to each beam element, a 98 lbf per beam joint? Or would it just be better to put a shell over the front and add the pressure to that? What does the “per unit length” box do?
