As the title says: How would you do a riveted connection in simulation?
Thanks in advance!
Technically, a proper riveted or bolted connection is same as bonded between the surface.
So in my assembly, I have holes for rivets derived from the component level.
Do you suggest suppressing rivet holes at assembly level and just using a bonded contact set between components?
Of course, if I am interested in the stress at rivets, then I cannot do this.
Yes, that will simplify the sim.
As long as you follow industrial standard on rivet spacing.
It'll be more involve to test the rivets.
Friction between materials. Clamping force of the rivets.
Spoke with our VAR. He said, "if you don't care about the connection or the stress in the region, just suppress the holes and use a bonded connection."
