Can anyone tell me why there are left over elements in my drawing after I have trimmed the main members? As far as I understand these "trimmed" entities should not be showing. See attached for my drawing. Below I have marked the residuals that should be deleted:
Because the smaller tubes are protruding completely into the inside of the larger tube SW has guessed that you want to keep the bodies on both sides of the tube walls and essentially split them at the trimming face.
Change this tag from "keep" to "discard" in each instance:
Edit to add:
I would also consolidate trims so that any items that are trimmed by the same face(s) are trimmed at the same time, and/or use mirror features to clean up the feature tree and make changes much easier and quicker.
For example, change "Trim/Extend 3" to include the near side member:
Also trimming to bodies is usually cleaner than trimming to faces, and more efficient. You can also have more than one weldment path in a single weldment feature as long as all paths use the same weldment profile. Give me a minute and I'll upload my updated file for you to take a look at.
