Unable to dimension a lofted bend or it's flat pattern

Question asked by Dominic Greco on Apr 11, 2019

I am having a DEVIL of a time getting this sheet metal piece dimensioned! I believe it is because it's coming in as a series of splines or arcs instead of lines.

The piece in question is made up of a lofted bend that is 40" square at the top and 24" dia at the bottom and is made from 3 gauge (0.2391" thk). I had no issues making the part in the Sheet Metal environment. In fact it was easy as hell. The sketches have the requisite break in their profiles and the square profile has radii at the corners. I've attached a model so you can see what I did.

When I go to dimension the flat pattern I cannot grab anything other than one edge. And when I try to dimension the orthographic views I get the same problem. It looks like it's coming in as a series of splines and SW will not allow you to get a point to point length off of them

What am I doing wrong? Do I have to remake this model using a lofted extrusion and the shell command? Then I won't be able to get a flat pattern.

Thanks
