I have a problem I'm wondering if there is a work around for.
We use configurations for some of our parts. No issues with most of them.
But for one item, the interaction of smart part and configuration is creating a problem with the BOM.
We use smart parts to cut holes for the parts being added. In this case a weldcoupling.
For this part, we have to use two different sized holes. What creates the need for two different sized holes is the stretching of the hole size when a dimple is applied to the sheet metal before the hole is added. In the model we have to use an undersized hole in the flat because the hole is stretched out when a dimple is applied to the sheet around the hole. In other cases a dimple is not used.
To handle that detail, we made two configurations of the smart part for the two hole sizes.
The problem is that the weldcouplings now shows up as two different line items in the BOM even though the part its' self is the same. I don't want to change the grouping of items in the BOM because we are usseing configurations of many other parts with no issues.
How can I tell the software that in this case only, the two line items should really be one line item with the quantities added together.
