If I created a model only by surfacing techniques in SOLIDWORKS, Would it be used directly in CNC machining?
I mean whether we only have to use solid modeling technique for CNC machining or not.
It needs to be a solid. You can make a configuration with solid features.
If you send the surfacing file out, they most likely would do this anyway. But, it would be part of the cost.
Should have no problem.
As long as CNC programming software can work with surface.
Solid define 'outside' surface for removal.
Programmer could override anyway.
Surface features has no mass. Solid bodies has mass. You can knit and convert to bodies.
A program like Surfcam or Powermill could work with one or another....
Solidcam I don't Know....
