Is it possible to smooth a rough loft?

I am currently trying to create lofts between very jagged and rough profiles. The profiles contain x- and y-coordinate points of pixels from images, hence the grid-like dispersion causing a rough finish on the loft.

Is there a way to smooth the loft created from these profiles? Or do I need to refine and smooth the profiles themselves? The picture below shows very small ridges on the loft that I'd prefer to not be present.

I am using Solidworks 2018 and have attached the part pictured above.

Correct Answer

..another way,.. copy the sketch and "Simplify Spline / Smooth" ,.. so, you start a new sketch on the same plane as the sketch you will copy and Convert (copy/edge).. break the "On Edge" relation and RMB Simplify Spline.. and Smooth (say about 1") and further select/delete the dense knots if needed.. You could plot the (X,Y) points from your Sketch1 in excel and fit a polynomial trend line for best fit. Then use that best fit trend line equation in Equation Driven Curve to smooth out the choppiness and use the loft feature just as you did. It may not be exact but it will smooth things out a little.

Good idea - I hadn't thought of that. It's going to be difficult for me to export the XY coordinates to Excel since a single text file that contains the XY coordinates also contains XY coordinates of other profiles, and is organized by rows of Y-pixel locations. Let me give it a try and let you know how it goes.
