My part is not appearing in the Engineering Drawing. I have the part file in the same folder but it's still not appearing. What is the cause?
are we talking about eDrawings ?
To me that looks like a screenshot from the drawing within SW, and it looks like it's lost reference to the part. Did you rename the part by any chance?
Sorry, not edrawing. Engineering Drawing is the correct name. Can a change in the name be the cause?
Yes, your references won't be updated if you :
if you want to change the name of a part and you want that to update references in assemblies / drawings, you should have assemblies / drawings open before you do a save-as.
If you want to do it without the files open. Use SolidWorks Explorer and it will update all references.
What if someone else changed the name years ago. How can I retrieve it?
with the drawing open, right click the drawing view, and the dialog should allow you to 'replace model'. If there are more views of the same part, make sure you select 'All Views'
Don't select 'All Views' if there are views of other models on the sheet.
I get a message saying that "one or more drawing views refer to the same model and will not be replaced." Then nothing happens.
try closing the drawing. go to the open dialog, select drawing but don'r open. Bottom right of dialog click the refernces button. change file reference then open drawing. If all good, save it.
If you ever want to change the name of a part/drawing/assembly file you must use SolidWorks Explorer to do so. It will update all the references for you so you don't get any errors or missing views.
My Drawing or Assembly can't find dependent files.
Drop the part into the drawing and then right click the view and select "Show", then delete the just dropped in part....
What just happened here? I thought he said this worked. Someone has just axed a lot of responses from this thread.

Is this the thread where the OP had accidentally marked one of his responses as correct? If yes, and it was deleted along with the replies to it, that would do it.
The reference model is missing. To reestablish reference
1. in SW explorer click on the drawing file
2, Open reference window
3. Find right reference model
4 Click OK -> Open drawing
