I am placing dimensions a model, and as I place a sketch dimension SW throws it way out into the model area, see snips.
So after I place it, if I do a zoom to fit the view area retracts way back.
What is going on? This doesn't happen every time but it is hyper annoying.

I checked that just now, it is set at 6mm & 10mm. When the dimension was thrown it went out what looked like 100 feet.
Any ideas?

it happens to me sometimes, I have not narrowed it down on when,
I do know it happens to me when "zooming and adding dimensions at the same time (3d Mouse)

I'm running SW2018 sp5 and have see this behavior one a while in this release and earlier

Yes I did,
In Document Properties/Dimensions, check the Offset distance of the dimension setting.
