Can Microsoft Hololens 2 work with Solidworks models. Have any of you solidworks users tried it?
Just got an email from Microsoft about Hololens now being available.
Does it work with SolidWorks?
Thanks,

Hi,
we use the glTF File Format and an own application to view SOLIDWORKS Files at the HoloLens2.
The glTF File might be created through the Extended Reality Exporter within SOLIDWORKS, but we have written an own exporter to have more control over the settings.
I don't know about an native app for SOLIDWORKS Data.

I found some information on a search:
HoloLens is more of a hardware platform than an specific application. Think of it as a display. So can it display a model of a specific format? Well, yes, of course. You just need an application that reads that file format and display it. It's not going to make a distinction.
But it's not HoloLens' job to do so, it's to another application. I'm not aware of any HoloLens application that currentlysupports the SolidWorks format.
If you convert files to some other more mainstream 3d format you can always load that into, say, Unity or something. They do seem to have an official simple .fbx viewer available too. Or one can build DX11 applications that run in the device displaying whatever models they want to come up with, regardless of the source.
