So when you go to the drawing and look at the BOM, the quotes do not appear in the description column (as shown below)?
If you have not changed your profiles then did you change your document settings
We have been helping another person with this same issue. I tagged you in that.
Without having access to you model. One possibility is the name of something in the string has changed.
I attached the Model & drawing.
Do an experiment for me. Go to Tools/Options/Document Properties/Weldments and uncheck Rename cut list folders with Description property value. Close the dialog then recreate your cut list in the model. What does you BOM look like?
I did but the Cutlist looks the same.
Could you take a screen shot and post it of what cut list in the model looked like after you made the change I suggested?
Have you or someone renamed the description in your weldment profiles recently?
So here is a screen shot of your description property.
I am using my profiles and this is what it looks like when I substitute
And this is what the BOM looks like
First I thought it may be having a slash in the description name so I created a new profile
But my BOM was still okay
So what else is different between yours and mine. Possible the double quotes "
Now my BOM looks more like yours
So my second request is to take the double quotes out of you profile DESCRIPTION custom property and make your cut list and BOM again.
I took out the double quotes and the slash but it still looks like this.
I still see the double quotes...
You did not answer if you or someone else recently updated your weldment profile file?
Also, upload your tube profile model (original) so I can take a look at it
I haven't changed them recently and I'm the only one that uses these profiles. I have attached the weldment profile. I rebuilt my model without the quotations so I don't know why they are still showing up.
I don't know if this will fix your issue but to show a " or a ' from 2018 you can add a @
2018 What's New in SOLIDWORKS - Adding an @ Sign Before Quotation Marks
That functionality was added in SW2018 (at least I could not find it in SW2017 help), Ray is using SW2017 from what I can tell from his model. But I will give it a try after posting this and will edit accordingly when I am done.
I did try adding the @ symbol in SW2017 and the cutlist went from
And the BOM looked like this
Tried your suggestion in SW2018. Cut list lost the @ symbol
But the BOM is still incorrect
Which really does not make sense at the moment...
All I can say is if I remove the double quotes from the description in the weldment profile and re-insert the profile into the model, the fields are evaluated correctly.
Hi Solid Air
That's correct. I read about it in What's New for 2018
ok...so how would I re-insert the weldment profile in my model?
Got it...length is showing up correctly now...many thanks guys!
Glad to see you figured how to re-insert the profile
