Local Mesh

Hey guys,

I am working on this free convection sink which is modeled with a fair bit of room all around.

I am trying to model thermal boundary layer in between fins and I am wondering what's the best way to mesh this problem.

I have added a simple body with the XYZ of my fin bed covering the fin bed. Disable this component from the simulation and applied a local mesh to it. However when visualizing my mesh it doesn't seem that it is applying the refinement I am looking for, I am even wondering if it even detects the fins at all.

edit: I may have found the issue... could it be possible that the narrow channel refinement doesn't get trigger by my slightly tapered fins?

the following video shows something similar to what I am trying to do, but it's not of a big help since things changed quite a bit since 2011..

thanks
