At SOLIDWORKS Hardware Certification | Hardware & System Requirements | SOLIDWORKS , I selected the following to get the right driver for re-purposing an older PC before installing SWx Edu 2019-2020 on it.
So I download it, sneaker-net it to the target PC, begin installation of VC driver, and the NVIDIA Installer for Version 411.63 checks for compatibility.
NVIDIA Installer cannot continue.
This NVIDIA graphics driver is not compatible with this version of Windows.
This graphics driver could not find compatible graphics hardware.
Despite this driver's certified status, why does it not take to the Windows 7 x64 OS?! I thought that Certified means that it has been tested and works. This one is not even compatible with the selected OS. Wait a sec. I don't care why, or how often this could happen, or such. I want something to make this work.
1. Where can I find the appropriate drive for this hardware and OS to utilize SWx?
2. Must I upgrade the OS to Windows 10 to install this or another VC driver? And if so, will THAT one actually work?
This is not a discussion of the virtues of any OS over another in your environment context. This PC will persist in air-gapped condition until it fails. I've asked specific useful questions.
Nah, this whole thing was MY misunderstanding, set up as a trap for me by me. I had removed gaming card from purchased PC, put it in the Quadro Box, and post-it noted, "VC removed from..."
It did not work b/c it was not the right card at all which I thought it was. At least I have 2 more on shelf which actually are the correct card. Certified driver is installing just fine once it finds the right hardware present. Ugh.
Thanks for attempts to help. I needed more than advice. I needed to read my own warnings on shelfware.
