Is there any way to incorporate custom properties/cut list properties into a library feature?

I'm working on a somewhat ambitious alternative to the utterly horrible pipe routing system using weldments. So far I really like how this is going.

Weldments track bodies and cut lists far better than routing and the 3D sketches don't break every other dimension. I've created a library feature for flanges that is fully design table driven just like routing and you just drop it in on the face of pipe, select the sketch point, and you're done. It has a cut-extrude built in that removes the pipe for whatever takeoff you have set in the design table so you're not dealing with that in the sketch. My only issue with that is the need to fill out the custom properties of your cut list and name these flanges. While this is a minor inconvenience for the stability gained from using weldments, it leaves room for human error. I know a derived part has that ability, but that defeats my goal of incorporating the cut-extrude.

Any thoughts? I plan on releasing our custom library when we've done thorough testing to help out the community. I understand the pain that the routing add-in causes, and maybe someone up above will take some inspiration from this to change the way it works.
