Solidworks 2018 Crashing on self made .drwdot

    Peter Benoit

      Good evening everyone,

I am glad to be back on the solidworks train as I have been on Creo and Inventor the last two years struggling hard with bad interface and occluding items!

Anyway the reason I am writing this is because when I am creating a title block and saving the sheet as a .drwdot I can open and close it and save it but when I go to put a part onto the sheet (by starting a new drawing) SW crashes without fail and I made it in 2018 too!

Any suggestions to get it to stop crashing, I try to run solidworks rx on it but it says there is nothing wrong with my system.

      Thanks again,

      Peter

Welcome back to Solidworks.  Drwdot files are drawing templates.  Sheet formats, which it sounds like is what you're editing, are .slddrt files (see What's the difference between a sheet format and drawing template?).  Did you save the sheet format first, then save the drawing template?  If not, try that.  If it still crashes, you may have a corrupt drawing template, in which case you will likely need to create a new one.
