Looking for recommendations for software for doing Aluminium die cast component flow simulation. Ideally to check the tooling and make changes if needed.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
Or maybe it was MAGMASOFT.
Deepak, recommending an appropriate software is above my level of expertise but a number of us were just discussing Flow Software last week and had come across this great study.
We do AlSiC based MMC (Metal Matrix Composites) High Pressure Castings at my company and have been researching the same type of software in the hopes of implementing a Continuous Improvement project that has been on our radar for some time now.
Thanks John for sharing your thoughts. I've no expertise with the simulation as well so any suggestions would be helpful.
I do not personally have any experience using the software but most of the casting foundries I have dealt with at my past job used ProCAST.
Thanks Christopher for sharing the name. I had heard name of ProCast but not MAGMASOFT, so definitely another tool to look into. Another one I've found is Flow-3D Cast and looking into this one as well.
Not a problem Deepak Gupta!! With all of the help you have given me over the years I'm just glad I could possibly help you out a little bit.
Our suppliers use MAGMASOFT.
HPDC simulation involves trans-sonic flow speed with viscous fluids, severe changes in section, and coupling with heat transfer. Fluid free-surface must be tracked and a full Navier-Stokes solution is required at a minimum [see if people at Magmasoft even recognize those terms]Specialists in the field are at EKK.
My own white paper on the topic from some years ago is cited here,
