Hello!
I have a desire to create a torque table for my drawing. Regardless of how many items I need torque values assigned for, I would like to create a separate table with each fastener, linked to the item number. Basically like the following.
Basically what I'd like to do is link the Item NOs to the item number in the Bill of Materials, so that if I add parts and they get placed "below" the fasteners, the item number will automatically update to show the new value.
I hope there's a way to do this. I'd like to do it in note callouts as well (i.e. "Assemble Item 'X' per Manufacturing Instructions", where 'X' is the item number that is linked to the item in the BOM.
Thanks!
You can manually do this by creating a note and either create a balloon and click on the number from the balloon or from the BOM while the cursor is in the annotation. You will have to manually do this for each Item. I was unable to get this working automatically. But if you do it manually like above it will update if your BOM is reorganized. The problem is that SW doesn't have the proper "hooks" to the BOM Item Number to be able to link to it like you can link to a Custom Property.
I have asked for this for years. But, it appears that people are okay with the above workaround. I created a Top Ten List that would fix it. But, it only has 2 votes. So, it's not likely to get fixed in 2020... Here's a link to the idea: Link BOM Item Number to View Title. (it says View Title, but it should apply to any annotation or table.)
