Is it possible to indent into a thin feature using a body that's not enclosed?

      Hi All,

I've been struggling with this feature necessity for a while and perhaps someone knows of a workaround, a simple way of going about creating it or the feature that exists that has eluded me.

I need to indent the bulbous piece or really any piece into the shelled container but need it to indent past the edge and not be contained. I know I could indent and cut the edge needed but it seems like the indent tool should just be able to do this.

Below is a simple but extreme example (it would be engineered with no undercut resulting):

Any help or pointing in the right direction would be appreciated.
