plasticity: higher strain has lower stress values

I have an assembly as on the attached animation: there is ring between the two springs and the question is the stress/deformation.

Setup: only the ring has a von Mises plastic material model the rest are linar (no penetration with friction everywhere)

What looks weird to me, is this possible that the higher strain can has lower von Mises stress values? . And they are both very different from the specified characteristic of the material. should it be an error (coarse mesh) or cases like this should use the principal stresses? Its excatly there where the upper spring ends.
