I have a part that will not show in any display style other than shaded with edges.
My guess is that there is a display override on the body. In the following image, you can see that the bottom body both in the graphics area and tree are following the part's display setting for HLR, but the top body is showing as shaded with edges. If you look in the Display Manager, an override has been applied to the top body. If I click on that shaded icon and choose "Default Display", then it will follow the part's display setting again.

See if this SPR seems to respond to your issue. I was having trouble with the drawing but the results seem simular.
Unlikely as it states the issue doesn't occur in other display styles. There is no change in the image at all when I change display styles. Shown in the image is I have selected wireframe and what you see is what the part display looks like after selection has been completed.
There is one catch to this. It did not update this setting in higher level assemblies I had to save part under a different name and replace component in assemblies as this setting was not capable of being modified in the assembly and was not being passed in.
