- I Really just need to edit the page template.
The problem is when opening the drawing file, because it can't locate the part that is viewed on the page it disappears (suppresses). How do I get that view to stay?

You can open the dwg in "quick view" mode which will give you the visual, but that's about as far as you can go without the model.
If you go to File references you should be able to see the last location the solid was saved by whoever worked on it last. That might help you get there. If that is not possible, and you just want to fudge it, you could open the drawing in view only mode, do a screen capture of the views, then paste that image into a new drawing with the template you need.
I would spend more time trying to find the solid, or recreate it.

Right click on a blank portion of the sheet, choose "Edit sheet format" from the drop-down, and make your edits. Right click again and choose "Edit sheet" to exit the function. What's the difference between a sheet format and drawing template? may be of some help if you need more information.
