generate regions Boss Extrude

I have no clue what to do... We are making emergency plans for whenever there is a flood. For these situations we need to model the surrounding area and put our mobile pump equipment into it. However, we get the surroundings in DXF. Up to this point everything worked out fine, but now it won't extrude the imported DXF anymore. Anyone has a thought? I can only thin extrude my sketch instead of solid body's. I noticed a button underneath selected contours which says: "Generate Regions". Anyone that knows what this is for? I couldn't find anything about it on the forum or on google.

Not sure that SWx is the best tool for this, but -
If I were to use SWx for this I would use that only as reference in creating multiple new and simplified sketches removing spline nodes by at least a factor of 4 and also replacing with lines and arcs wherever possible.

A nice spline curve can be created with only a beginning and end node and manipulation of handles.

K. V. , It's essentially just an automated way to pick what to extrude and doesn't always go the way we want. Basically, SW is just trying to tell you that it doesn't know what you want to extrude out of that sketch as there are likely open/closed or doubly nested contours.

Here you need to clean up the sketch first. To select contour we need a close sketch. Because there are few open contours, extra lines etc. Then you can select contour to extrude what you want.

I've simplifeid the sketch dramaticly and still it doesn't want to extrude. The only "Error" it gives me when i check the sketch for feature is that it has 3 intersecting points at 1 vertex. But in the past this didn't give me any problems.

I'm going to second what J. Mather said. Use that sketch as reference only. Create multiple simpler sketches using it, and use those sketches for extrudes. Don't try to do too much with any single feature.

You either have lines crossing over each other or gaps or multiple lines over top of each other.

My suggestion would be to add extrudes in different steps the you can turn them off or on. You would need to convert the entities of the main sketch and delete what you don't want or sketch over top. But just use the DXF sketch for your base, not the entire extrude..

the picture shown above is drawn with the dxf as skeleton sketch. Not even the main enclosure (the circle) is able to extrude. The only thing i used the dxf for is for the main building which i converted to get the dimensions right. The other lines are all "drawn by hand".

I use the check sketch for feature a lot when trying to convert dxf to solids and it does not work, There is usually a gap somewhere, this one I would just use to convert areas into a new sketch, and go from there.
