Recently installed SW2018 and when I try to do any kind of dimensioning, the dims do not show up. I've checked my setting options, but nothing seems to help. It gets worse in hole wizard, it will not let me locate holes properly.
What am I missing?
Can you post some screen shots of what you're attempting?
You have your annotations view turned off.
Sure, Kevin, I'll try but not much to see....when I try to dimension anything it simply doesn't show up....
At this point it will not let me get a vertical dim so I can place the hole properly (and add relations to the other holes to finish)
This may seem like a dumb question, but I've tried to toggle on several different levels for the annotations - WHERE do I get the setting right? Very confusing....

I can't replicate your issue.
Can you upload your file(s)?
To where, Kevin?
To the forum in this post.
Glenn Schroeder has kindly compiled some instructions to do this: How can I attach a file to a forum post?
First go to Tools/Options/System Options/FeatureManager
Then the annotations folder will show in your feature tree, then
Right Click the Annotations Folder
Check the selections that apply

Here's the file I just created in 2018....thanks for your help & good luck!
Re-open your model, right-click on the annotations node of the feature tree and select "Details" from the context menu.
In the dialog that shows up, see if this control is checked. Check it if it's not and report back on the results.
Thanks, John, like I said, I checked those & they were right where you showed they should be....
Yes, John, that was correct also...
OK, I attached a part. Open it up and edit sketch16 under #10 clearance hole. Do the dimensions show correctly and can you add more dimensions?
change your overall drafting standard to be ansi and not ansi modified.
There is something in the ANSI modified version that is causing this, I also see what you are seeing (not seeing)
I opened it up, then went to the sketch 16 first...this is what I saw:
I also looked at the feature (hole wizard) locations - same thing. I could not add or alter any dimensions.
Frank, I checked and switched it to ANSI from ANSI MODIFIED - it still will not let me select a sketch entity nor will it show the dim....
Try turning on "Use Software OpenGL". You have to have SW open but NO documents open in order to change this setting.
Ok, Josh, turned that on (checked box) and re-opened file.....no change....

I open it and dims are there with text. New dims have text.
Dunno, perhaps it's graphics card issue.
Also, whilst I'm rambling, you may need some bend relief here since you're at the form line, else the bend deformation will carry over into the left section.
Yea, so I re-loaded your part again and all is working just fine now on the "ansi modified" I restarted my computer
and reloaded the part and it is working just fine. odd,
So I did find out if you edit the sketch 7 dim while in an iso view the dimension acts funny
When I move the model the dim jumps to the red X then goes back to the center.
When editing flat to the screen it works fine
Then when you edit it in iso view it goes bonkers again

I also suspect that you have to completely close and re-open Solidworks.
But I have been wrong before.....this is generally what me begin wrong looks like....so....
Frank, I ran a SolidWorks Rx after it crashed a second time on me, I think the download might be corrupted....I submitted a video and written report with the file, hopefully it will get ironed out.
Thank you all for your help & your time! I very much appreciate it!
Dan, LOL! Thanks for your help, I DO appreciate it!
