Everytime we start SW Electrical the data update wizard opens. Looking at it further it wants to update some BidXls template files. These files are empty no data in them. How can we make these popups stop?
Find the "Update" folder in your application Data folder (ProgramData\Solidworks Electrical) and delete it manually. Sometimes whoever carried out the installation doesn't have the administrative priveleges to delete that folder, so it must be done manually.
I will look for that folder again. One other question will deleting that folder affect anything?
I am not seeing an update folder in the Program Data\Solidworks Electrical folder. It is referring to the BidXlsTemplate folder in the popups. Can I delete that folder?
The BidxLS template folder is something different, try "run as administrator" on SWE.
As for the rest I mentioned,
Here is the info on SW Knowledge Base S-073594
If the application was not run as an administrator during the previous data update process, you will be prompted to update the data.
SOLIDWORKS® software installations and upgrades create an “Update” folder in the SOLIDWORKS Electrical shared program data folder. This is what causes the ‘Data Update’ wizard to appear. If you do not run the application as an administrator, the folder will not be removed and this will continue to occur.
To prevent this from occurring each time you run the software, right-click on the SOLIDWORKS Electrical shortcut > ‘Run as Administrator’ > and process the data update. After completing this step, the behavior will cease until the next upgrade cycle. If the behavior continues, go to the shared program data directory (specified during the SOLIDWORKS Electrical server installation) and rename the ‘Update’ folder.
Alright I will try what you wrote. THanks for your time.
