I've been trying to model rainscreen using sheet metal in order to get a flat pattern. In most cases, this is pretty good, and as long as my drawings show the critical dimensions such as the outside length and width, the fabricators are able to produce what we need. However, the flat pattern is not accurate as it's compensating for material stretching/compression, which is fine for metal but not rain screen.

The youtube link below shows rainscreen installation, but at 11 secs in you can see the flat pattern which is then folded. I would like to know if there is any way to produce something similar in SolidWorks. Notice that there is very thin material left along the bend line, something line 0.5mm while the full thickness will be 4mm.

I'm thinking of approaching this as if it's cardboard may give me results close to what I want. Any ideas are welcome.
