Solidworks 2019 compatibility with older versions of Solidworks

I'm currently running Solidworks 2017 Premium, but have the annual maintenance subscription. I never got around to updating to 2018, and I see that 2019 has come out. I like the new features that come with 2019, however, if I do update to the latest version, I'm afraid any shops that my company works with will be unable to open the assembly files we send them (unless we save them as parasolids or some other format). Many of the shops currently run 2017 or 2018 and haven't updated either.

Are there major changes to features in 2019 that will affect files being imported in older versions? What would be the easiest file format to send to someone, regardless of the version they are currently running?
