Is there any way of avoiding a feature pattern to automatically become suppressed when all features in the pattern are suppressed?

It results in that if have two features in a pattern (and only want one active at the same time) and first suppressed the active one, unsuppresses the inactive, then unsuprresses the pattern, both features becomes unsuppressed.

Note: This order is necessary to automate the process with a script, first all suppress then all unsuppress.
