I am running solidworks flow simulation 2017 on an electronic enclosure, and the fluid volume recognition failed.
I used the check geometry tool, and got a list of invalid contacts, mostly faces overlapping, body duplication, and zero thickness vertex
(the results image is attached).
I wanted to know if there existed a quick way to resolve these errors.
Thank you.
Hi Chris,
The fluid check is failing due to one or more of these invalid contacts. Sometimes Flow Simulation can resolve these on its own and sometimes it requires user intervention to change the model to resolve the invalid contacts and fully enclose the inner volume in a way the fluid check then understands. Keep in mind that the model that you created for manufacturing will likely require modifications/simplificaitons before it will be a model that successfully runs in either Flow Simulation CFD or Simulation FEA.
Once you have modified the model to resolve these invalid contacts you will then want to double check that that model doesn't just have holes from the outside to the inside. Leak Track will be a good tool to help with this part (GoEngineer - Flow Simulation: Leak Tracker).
