I want to move assembly files from one vault to another vault on a PDM server. What is the best way to do this, and have all required files move over with the assembly - without having to open each part and doing a save as operation?

In that case (if there is no SolidWorks Explorer and Copy Tree) and such option - https://forum.solidworks.com/message/841894 - does not approach,
probably only Pack and Go and is possible only some macroes or third-party applications.
but all this should be tried - results can depend on different settings.
Of course, before to save everything and to rebuild and Check In.
Hi,
probably will not prevent to specify a question:
- PDM Pro /Standart ?
- I want to move someone's files on the server (as I am an administrator and I have such rights)?
- in what Status files before their copying? If in case of / after copying there are problems - who will solve them?
If a question by such, then probably, anyway it it is better to do on client side - the author (authors) of files.
But if it is very necessary - it is possible to try also on the server, only before, it is very desirable to rebuild, save files and Check In at all clients.
If PDM - Pro - the best method - Copy Tree on folder or on Assembly of the top level.
Depending on different settings - results can be different.
Including settings of variables when copying.
It is also possible to use - Move Tree.
It is safer to Copy at first then Delete old files (but to leave them for some time in Deleted in PDM (just in case).
If PDM - Standart - can be tried - (if you have SolidWorks Explorer) - the context menu functions - Copy or Move. Results can also be different - depends on different settings.
In any of these options history of files will not be copied.
Also can matter - as Toolbox is set up (if it is used).
In case of problems it is necessary to pay attention to Warnings.
After copying, Check In/Out also if necessary can be required to Update references (if after that there are any problems).
The one who knows shall be engaged in it as as shall be. and what it is necessary to do.
From my experience - I would not advise to copy / move someone's files from other computers.
It is the best of all to do it on the computer of the Author and that it was done by the Author. Will not prevent to transform files to the latest version of SolidWorks also before.
