I'm attempting to do an initial install of SolidWorks 2009
SP2.1 64-bit over the Internet. I've downloaded the Installation
Manager from the SW Customer Portal and launched it. After filling
in the serial number, it says
"connecting to SolidWorks..."
and displays an error dialog that reads:
"Could not connect to the SolidWorks server to automatically select products to install. Check your Internet connection and click Retry or Cancel to manually select the products to install."
I connected to the customer portal easily, so there is no fundamental problem with Internet access. We do not run a proxy. I have tried turning off Windows firewall. OS is Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit.
I saw a post of a similar problem on this forum dated about a year ago, but a resolution was never posted.
What am I doing wrong?
