Does anyone know how to add a date stamp when printing a drawing? Specifically in the lowerest left corner I would like to add the path, date day time, user initials. I would imagine this is not a SW function, but more of a Windows OS function.
you can create a macro for printing
Then in the macro you can update the current date (now) which is linked to a custom property (you can put in anywhere in the dwg)
actually, usually this is controlled by the print driver
In Autocad it's an Autocad system option that I can add when printing. Now I'm going to look if SW has any such option.
It's in the properties of the printer under "page options". It prints day of the week and the date.
Are you referring to the printer driver, outside of SW?
Printer driver in SW. Go to properties and look for "Page Options". I attached some screen shots.
Those are printer driver options that are related specifically to the printer. Since my printer is different than yours, I don't have that option.
Sorry, that's the only thing I found. Good luck, hope you find the answer that you're looking for.
I sure appreciate your input!
Thanks Christian. I was kind of thinking that would be case. I don't have much experience with creating macros so I'll just put this on the back burner until I have time to figure it out.
it's be a simple macro you can create it by using record macro
Make sure to add "CurrentDate" in the custom properties
and link a text in the title block to this custom property
Here is the code
Dim swApp As SldWorks.SldWorks
Dim swModelDoc As SldWorks.ModelDoc2
Dim cpm As SldWorks.CustomPropertyManager
Set swApp = Application.SldWorks
Set swModelDoc = swApp.ActiveDoc
Set cpm = swModelDoc.Extension.CustomPropertyManager("")
Dim nowString As String
nowString = Now
cpm.Add3 "CurrentDate", swCustomInfoType_e.swCustomInfoDate, nowString, swCustomPropertyAddOption_e.swCustomPropertyDeleteAndAdd
