We are using Solidworks 2018 and PDM Pro 2018.
So, PDM can send out notification and I've seen a process for configuring an email server so that notifications can be sent to any recipient.
But I'm wondering if it's possible to set it up so that each project has an email address that can be used to collect all email communication relevant to that project. Maybe a way to have a specific email account/folder automatically filter into a folder in a specific project.
The issue, as I see it, is that many users are collaborating on a project and many of them may be communicating with external contacts (customers, suppliers, vendors etc). It would often be a benefit to all, if those communications were recorded and accessible in a convenient location. We have already started doing this when communicating with some of our vendors, just CCing a specific email address so that all communication with them is accessible to all of us.
I would guess that we could do this, simply by creating a new email account for each project and having those messages saved to a common folder in that project's PDM folder.....but I'm asking here to find out if there is an easier or existing method built into PDM or easy to add.
Maybe more of an IT question (I'm not an IT expert, obviously)....but I thought I'd ask around here.
