I believe it used to be under HELP/ ABOUT SOLIDWORKS. I don't see it anywhere. Thanks
check again it's there:
I've just checked on mine and that's where it still is here. 2018 sp 4
Its still there for 2018 SP4.
It's on the bottom left corner of your monitor.

interesting, 2017 with or without a file open shows Version but not SP
I am on also 2017 Does not show the SP number. Just when I go to about Solidworks it shows the SP#
I am on 2015 sp5.0 and it shows the SP# in the About file:
But does not show the SP# (only the version) on the bottom Left side of the screen (this is with an assembly, part or nothing open)
Maybe version dependent on the bottom display.
Rick, that's an impressive lineup of Hotfixes!

I can't find any documentation on it, but now that I think about it I seem to remember showing it there is new to SW2018.
I closed all my models and then looked in the Help menu and what do you know...."about Solidworks" showed up as a selection.
Me also, Rick McDonald.
Mine reads SOLIDWORKS Premium 2018 x64 Edition in lower corner, similar to yours which does not show the service Pack.
(Running SP2, assembly open)

Have you tried getting out of HSMWorks and just opening Solidworks alone?
Maybe it's just me, but those icons at the top look large relative to the text. Do you have your icons set to something other than 100%? If yes, I've seen reports here that changing that can cause problems with drop-down menus.
You are very observant Glen! Yes, I did make them bigger a couple day ago. These old eyes need all the help they can get. I run 2 monitors of different size and still really never got the interface to look the way I want it to.
Here is on my screen with no file open.
Just for reference ... It can also be found externally of SW by right clicking (RMB) the desktop shortcut if you have one and selecting Properties or within the Start menu selection that you would access SW from. The version is usually under the "Target" property.
What mine shows without a file open. And here I have been searching for it and it was right in front of my face.
Even with no file open, mine reads same as I wrote above, SOLIDWORKS Premium 2018 x64 Edition.
Could this very minor variation be due to OS? I'm running Win 7 Pro x64.
Side note: this matters so very little, but is merely a tiny inconsequential mystery.
Regarding "About SolidWorks" being missing in your "Help" dropdown... You've probably inadvertently un-checked it under the "Customize Menu" at some point. Menu customization is context-sensitive, so when you close your files it comes back.

I also don't show the sp w/no file open (SW2018 sp2):
EDIT: Forgot to mention I'm on Win10.
I'm on win 7.
I have SW2014 to SW2019 installed and, yes it was SW2018 when they added the SP to the lower left border (even with no files open). Prior to that Help > About was the way to see your SP.
