Are you saying you only want to see the assembly shown as a part? Instead of many parts, if so then save the assembly as a part file.
Hi Richard, in SolidWorks, for each assembly model (and for each configuration of the assembly) you can choose how to show it in bill of materials.
If you go in the configuration tab, RMB on the configuration and click 'Properties'
you can choose how to treat the relation assembly-children:
Show: standard hierarchy
Hide: sub-assembly shown as a part
Promote: all children show instead of the sub-assembly
Consider that you can also have an indented BOM, where you can explode or collapse each sub-assembly.
Hope it helps
This is the right answer. And if I understand the Inventor options,
Show = Normal
Hide = Inseparable (one item, no components. Could also be equivalent to Purchased?)
Promote = Phantom
The inventor option Reference would be equivalent to Solidworks' Exclude from BOM (or Envelope).
Many thanks Sergio!!! This is exactly what I want...
