im trying to re draw a ready STL file but im having difficulties specially with front spherical shape.
How much SolidWorks training and experience do you have?
Can you Attach the *.sldprt file of your attempt to reverse-engineer the geometry as b-rep?
i have about 1 year experience with basic models not advance models, i dont have the .sldprt i need to make so that i need your help.
Fortunately this is relatively easy geometry.
Attach your initial attempt here and then we will at least know what version of SolidWorks you are using.
Revolve the sphere, some Extrudes and Shell.
this is my first draft, im using 2016 version
Measure from face to point, line to point and point to point to guesstimate size.
You could create planes at assumed flat face and convert edges.
Also create planes so you can convert cross sections and redraw curves.
could you recommend the most helpful feature that should i use in solid works like boundary surface ?
The original stl file has big triangulation of surfaces and it's hard to re-create the model to match 100% of the original
Especially over the curved surfaces, you have to assume very close and draw and it's not that easy...
I would suggest to request different format from your supplier/customer
actually this the only useful format that the 3D max software can export, please note that the triangle appears it is an export resolution issue from 3D max export so it should be smooth surface
Hello Shadi,.. "if" you contact the person with 3dsMax... they "maybe" able to export this as a Nurbs ... but if not.. you can extract a patch of the front face using Fill Surface,.. make "4" connecting 3DSketches... select the outline of the front face as best you can... see attached.
...or maybe,.. do a Boundary Surface.. using the (4) connect 3DSketch?
thank you for your advice actually im try doin it by boundary surface,but im now facing a problem with the side walls.
and below is my drawing, im not forced to make it exact as above but i should keep the same concept.
Hello Shadi,.. then, I'd build another Boundary Surface (4x 3Dsketches) which best represents/interpolates/follows the flow of the side you have or blend off the existing side wall you have created (btw, suggest you do all of the outside surfaces (master shape, exterior) before shelling or using solids (thicken walls) and details.
