I don't think Vault care much about config beside properties.
Vault is a file management database that make it easier to find and organize files and file references.
Vault help should have more info on what it can do with Solidworks files.
You are correct, and I am using them, but it doesnt make it any easier to try and set this up.
Basically if I have a configured file in Solidworks in the Vault, and I search for a part number that is actually a configuration, I need it to still find the file that that configuration is in.
Ex: I have a part file of a screw named "M5 Screw.sldprt", and in that I have a configuration named 12345 for the part number. If I go to my vault and search "12345", it will find the "M5 Screw.sldprt".
Since it is a software produced by a competitive software vendor, I would be cautious about one major function. It will most likely not be able to handle SOLIDWORKS references as well as PDM Standard or Professional. SOLIDWORKS users will still need to practice good discipline with renaming or moving files within an Autodesk Vault.
