How do import/ export table of offsets (lofting table) for boat hull?
How do import/ export table of offsets (lofting table) for boat hull?
If I use an excel design sheet it would need to be done per loft sketch. If done this way the linear alignment would still be left unconstrained and un-dementialized where this is critical. It would end up being all wavy. Good suggestion but not quite there, it would require more work than my current work flow. But any other suggestions are welcomed, thank you for at least thinking about it.
Chris
I'm a bit dim sorry.. not quite sure how this plan works.
My best guess is that you want to insert a sketch picture, trace the profiles and then project them onto a series of planes.
If this is the case I would definitely be looking at getting that table into excel and then using a DT to control the planes.
Maybe you could give further explanation to your workflow and what the bottle neck is?
Looks like a fun project.
Currently i have several tables of Offsets that I need to turn into shapes/hulls. And the reverse is true also, I have 4 hulls I made in solid works that I need to turn into a table of offsets based off plane positions. As I know it, I can use DT to govern one sketch import but I need to import them all simultaneously and maintain set dimensions between them while doing so.So it could be like importing a point cloud based off gcode like coordinates .
Chris,
Sounds like maybe using an Excel design table would be your best bet. It's still going to require a lot of manual sketches, etc. to build the geometry.
Thanks,
