In SW maybe 2017, but for sure in 2018 the measure tool now displays info about the last item you clicked. So If I measure the distance between two items, and the second item I clicked was a plane, it will give area of the plane. What's worse is if the second item clicked was an edge it will show edge length. Two issues with this: I've mistaken this number for what I was measuring, and sometimes that window is getting in the way and covering up the dimensions I'm really interested in. If I want to know the edge length, I'll click on that edge, I don't want to see this window. That window is getting in the way for me and I can't figure out how to get rid of it, or turn it off.
