Want to send cold storage files to a network share.
I used a domain account that has a fixed password. I can add it to network drive permissions. So it is kind of like a user account but used for admin stuff. Your IT group probably uses them on the client machines so when you have a problem they can come over and log into the computer with an account that is not theirs so they don't have to have there account in the admin group on all the machines.
Another option might be to create an account on the server and then give that account access to the network drive. You would point to it on the drive properties like this ServerName\UserName so you would use the server name like you would use the domain name.
You would also have to add that local account to the admin group on the server so that it could do what the local account does.
You should be able to go into services and look at the properties for the SolidWorks PDM Archive Server Service.
Switch to the Log On tab and select the "This Account" options then add the correct info.
That did bring me to the screen I need. Now, I'm not sure I want to change it. I was trying to set up a cold storage schema that would archive to a network drive using a UNC path. However, the account used by the Archive Server does not have access to a Network drive.
Your second option may be the way to go. We do not have a domain set up here, so first option won't work.
I'll give the second option a try, hopefully soon.
Thanks for your help.
