I would like to light up my interior light shade and it's made of a 0.5mm timber veneer as the light diffuser. The only way to make the light show through the veneer is to add a slight transparency to the timber material., How can I make this more realistic? For example, when the lights off, the veneer is solid and visible, when the light is on, the veneer glows with the darker grain in the veneer being less transparent.
I was hoping subsurface maybe the key.
Map as texture is greyed out in subsurface option.
