Please help me , i have some issues in export to the iges & step format .
It might help if you explain what those issues are exactly........
I'm working in Fixture & Gauges manufacturing sector for automobile . Here we are using 3D model for machining , thats why we are provide the engraving details for the machine shop , Like 3mm gap Engraving & Marking of the car line .
iges and step formats are solid model formats, not sketch formats. I believe you have to change the sketch into a solid model before you can save as a iges or step model.
That's all fine and dandy but like Bill mentioned, are you trying to export a part or a drawing?
3D model , like *.sldprt to IGES or STEP
See if your engraving process uses DXF.
It's not a 2D conversion , i need engraving details on surface of the 3D model .
You can use text in a sketch to make a cut-extrude (to engrave) or extrude (to emboss) the text to your solid before export.
Have you tried changing your export settings? It doesn't work with step but does with iges.
Engraving from a sketch on a 3D model can get complicated. We have tried it. We either extrude-cut the image, send it as a separate file, or show it as reference on the model with a note on the drawing and let the engraver do his/her magic.
There is a setting in the Solidworks Options that will export sketches. Warning...It exports ALL sketches...every single sketch...hidden or shown...every single sketch will be included in the export.
