I have been long thinking of trying a 3d mouse, and would like to hear from users what their top pick would be, and why.
I personally like 3dconnexion space mouse pro and there wireless mouse combo. Also here is a link to another thread I started that has a lot of info.
What mouse/keyboard you like to use
Thanks! there is a lot of great input in your link!
No problem. Might See what Dave Bear thinks about getting those in his goodies bag.
Mate, I'm loving my 3DCONNEXION SpaceMouse Enterprise Kit. Makes me feel like I'm flying the 'Enterprise' lol, but it's awesome gear. I'm still getting use to it but it's really easy to see why people go down this route. Manipulating a model is just SOOOOO much easier!
Sorry not sure what you mean.
Also, at the risk of sounding a bit naive, are the 3d connects (left side) designed to be a second mouse? how do they work with the regular mouse? can this be done with a regular mouse & track ball? I've always just had a keyboard and standard mouse.
I use the 3D Connextion wireless space mouse with a Logitech M570 tracking ball mouse. I love it, its great together.
The Space Mouse Pro works with your mouse as a stand alone. You can zoom, rotate, and spin all with the space mouse. the space mouse can go a fine zoom and spin. It works great to zoom into a curtain area you are working on and can spin and rotate so you can see all angles.
I'm not at work today, and don't remember all the names, but I used the simple hockey puck-looking one for a number of years, and recently upgraded to the middle level one (the one that's about $250.00). To be honest I haven't gotten used to all the extra buttons yet, and some of them I never use, but that's my fault. I still like it better than the simpler one.
In any case, I hope I never have to use Solidworks without one. By the way, I gave my old one to my boss. She doesn't use Solidworks, but uses it to zoom in and out on other documents, like PDF's.
