my solidworks file type have changed to sldprt from solidworks part document. How to fix this issue???
Direct from tree of operations
With Solidworks Explorer
Open and save as file
I don't understand the issue here. A Solidworks Part document has the extension of "sldprt". That is what I am seeing here.
What is the problem?
NO the default solidworks part file will be saved as SOLIDWORKS part file Document!!!!
I fixed this issue yesterday by running a repair. thank you guys.
I think I see what you're saying. Your system is saying "SLDPRT File" instead of "Solidworks Part Document" in your File Explorer "Type" column.
I don't know how that happened, but is everything working as it should otherwise?
Like the others here, I'm confused by your issue.
Everything is appearing as it should. So, in an attempt to help you, could you explain further what exactly you expect to see?
Or, are you confusing (which I doubt in this case given the examples) the extension of "prtdot" which is for templates only? That is the only other (far reaching) conclusion I can come up with...........
hi dave ,
in windows explorer ,the solidworks default file type will be shown as SOLIDWORKS part document but mine was saved only in the name SLDPRT. and that maked my icons as generic. I solved it by trying an repair and clearing the registry.
They are the same, what your seeing has to do how Windows Explorer is reading from the list of options. Right click the header and look at the list of options to show
In your first screenshot, we can't see the File explorer column title. What is it? "Type" or something else?
I think we're getting confused because your 2 screenshots are different. If you want it to display "SOLIDWORKS Part Document", the header should be "Type"
Try to 'Restore File Associations'
