i have a solid model of a plane and i need to export it to 3DMAX and control the amount of polygons. (after it will be export to OXYGEN tool)
what is the best way to low poly the model?
Not sure how you can do this in SW except perhaps changing the resolution of an STL export? Even then I think it will be hard to control the amount of polygons.
You could just export STL with the fine resolution, then open it up in a program like MeshLab where you can specify the number of polygons to reduce to. Then export and open in the next software.
Here you got wich files can import on 3DS MAX
The Import and Export commands on the Application menu let you share 3D geometry with other 3D modeling programs.
3ds Max can import and export a variety of file formats, as described in this section.
If you want to control it in 3ds-Max, try STEP and IGS.
If not, try STL with lower settings/resolutions.
