Has anyone done a direct upgrade from SW 2015 SP5 to SW 2018? We are looking to upgarde and were wondering if anyone has done this and if they came across any issues during the upgrade.
We upgradd from SW2016 SP3.0 but we do a complete uninstall of old version. We found SP3.0 buggy. I recommend SW2018 SP4.0
Do you have any specific concerns? And have you reviewed the changes in the last 3 versions so they won't catch you by surprise? I assume you're aware of the color change to the icons in SW2016?
Yes, we are aware of the changes, thanks. I just wanted to know if there any issues with upgrading from 2015 to 2018 such as needing to upgrade to a lower version first. I am trying to cover all my bases before we upgrade.
Print all drawings in PDF before the upgrade - you can recreate everything from them later.

I have SW2014 to SW2018 installed on my PC so I can work in the same version my clients use.
Do not UPGRADE. Instead do a NEW INSTALL. (Upgrades are fine when installing a new service pack of the same release.)
One approach is to keep SW2015 and do a new install of SW2018.
Make sure you have all your SW2015 customizations OUTSIDE of the default SolidWorks folders (so that you don't lose them). I have a folder "SolidWorks Common" with sub-folders for each release (SW2015, SW2018, etc.) Then folders for everything you customize (templates, properties, weldment, Macro, etc.) Do this on a network drive.
First, download the full set of SP4 installation files to your PC (or network drive) and install from there.
Install SW2018 to one PC. DO NOT upgrade your 2015 templates. (see thread "crusty old templates").
Instead use the SW2018 default templates (part, assy & dwg). Go through ALL the options one at a time and set them to your preference. There will be many new options since SW2015!. Make sure the File Locations are set up to point to your SolidWorks Common network folder. Save these updated templates to your "SolidWorks Common" folder on the network.
Then, after others have installed SW2018, they can use your templates.
Once you are happy with everything, you can delete SW2015 installation.
