My computer is an HP Z book with an intel core I7 Vpro motherboard and 32 GB of RAM. My video card is an NVIDIA QUADRO M3000M this laptop is a month old. When i go to move a part or rotate it at all i have to wait about 10 seconds or more before it will move. did not notice anything like this a week ago. Now its so slow im struggling to work. Open to any ideas.

What verizon of windows? What version of SW and SP? Are you using SW PDM?
I`ve just found the reason for this strange performance degradation! In my case, it`is the presence of "center of mass" feature.

Good catch finding the root cause of the lag in your example. What version of SOLIDWORKS are you using?
We had a SW2017 project to reduce the impact of Center of Mass features on assembly performance. If you are still seeing the issue in 2017 or newer, please report it to your VAR, so that we can investigate further.

Figured out why it was going crazy. When dealing with a large assembly you must be cautious of how you "convert entities" or reference other parts in your assembly when creating sketches freely in assembly mode. in other words ......if you create a "part" while in assembly, do not keep the reference constraints in your sketches, it increases rebuild time and makes it laggy.

Has anything on your system changed?
Have you installed any new applications that may be running in the background?
Is Windows set so that you approve all updates first? If not, could it be that perhaps than an auto-installed update to either windows or perhaps Nvidia is whats causing you grief?
There can be a number of reasons for this behaviour, can you pin-point when it started happening?
