New to sheet metal, need help creating a metal wall that rises from bottom edge to the sketch line visible, mainly having trouble because of the angled edges on the bottom, need the wall to stop at the sketch line to create a flat finish for the drawer im modelling, any help is appreciated, please see attached photo
Hello,
Another factor is how you want this wall to be located relative to the other portion:
If you want to practice a flush junction all around then I suggest making this an assembly, with the wall as a separate piece.
These would be welded together.
Practice adding tabs and slots for locating.
Two pieces would improve the metal yield and might also save some futzin' at the wall's bend (depending on how flush it has to be to the edge of the other portion and the tooling available).
Plus, 2-piece would ease the setup since die lengths aren't that specific or critical.
With the one-piece, die lengths matter more because they can overshoot into neighboring metal that's not supposed to be bent. Also side stops would need to be mirrored instead of just one stop (or none) for the 2-piece.
As Mr. Schafer said, there are many ways to accomplish this.
Practice several methods (using separate files for each method) so you learn multiple approaches.
This way you have more methods to apply to the practical situation where yield, time, cost, equipment, etc. factor in.
Since you're learning, each method is as equally wrong as it is equally right, so don't get too hung up on each. Just compare their differences and benefits.
