hi there,
I'm trying to uninstall my current, expired, version of SW (student edition 2016-2017) but when doing so Im getting this message during the uninstall process:
An active SOLIDWORKS license has been detected on this computer. If you want to transfer this license to another computer, select ‘YES.’ If you will be reinstalling SOLIDWORKS on this computer and want to keep this license, select ‘NO'
Would you like to transfer your license now?
Yes or no
I have not opted for anything yet since neither option is correct. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm using Windows 7. I can not open my current version of SW as it has expired. The reason I'm doing this is to instal the 2018-2019 student version (I'm a student) but don't want to cause issues.
Thanks in advance,
Jodi
As Adrian Czapla pointed out, Solidworks is simply detecting that a SW Serial Number is written in the registry of the computer. It doesn't check to see if the license is actually active or not, it only checks to see if there is a SW Serial Number written to the registry on your computer. Answer Yes to the question, SW will then remove it from your computer's registry.
