I was sent this model from a pattern shop and the customer has requested that it be changed into a solid model. My problem is there are faces that exturde through the walls that I can't seem to trim. Does anyone have any suggestions of how I can get this model fixed up?

I opened the IGS file and lots of overlap surfaces, especially on the outer body
You may want to use the surface tools to cleanup and fix the surface issues and then knit surfaces together to make solid

When you import an .iges or step or most other non .sldprt files, they come in as "dumb" models. You can see them and add to them but you can't manipulate the underlying geometry.
In this case you have 3 surface bodies that make up this model. The files that make up each of the surface bodies aren't included in your .zip file.

You can toggle the visibility of each of the surface models.
Hey Tony,.. ..as a workaround, we can save/extract those bodies as a Parasolid to evaluate/repair the 3D model... and unfortunately,.. the 3 bodies (should be 2?).. is a bit messy around the outer blends.. but I can get the cores done..

Start off by turning off your 3D interconnect option.
This leaves the geometry tied to the IGES file.
My experience with the interconnect has been mixed bag. I don't care for it as it really doesn't function much better than importing solids, and most times is just a pain to manipulate models if need be.
On a side note if using the 3d interconnect and posting to the forum make sure to include the IGES or whatever neutral/ native format you have. It will help in trouble shooting issues.
I am pretty sure as long as you have the interconnect turned on you will not be able to trim the surface as it is attached to the IGES file. I could be wrong on that one, but I am pretty sure I ran into a problem like this before with it.

Removed some of the blend surfaces and overlaps
Re created few surfaces, extended current surfaces and trimmed, knit surfaces to create 2 solid bodies, later add blends
Hope the attached file works (it's not a 100% match to the existing model, still very close)
